I have always enjoyed detailed work. The shells were from my little collection, I do try to restrict it to a small box, so find a new shells and one of the old ones goes back to the beach were I suppose they really belong.
This Tug has been up the river for a few years now and we were on our boat tied to the pontoon in front of her, while we were waiting for engine spares I couldn’t resist painting her in morning spring light.
I spend a lot of my time on this river during the summer. This is a small beach opposite Tolverne, (Smugglers Cottage). The figure is my Husband working on our skiff Kaos, (yes it’s supposed to be spelt wrong)! This painting was finished off with a series of glazes which resulted in a feeling of depth.
30" x 40" Oil on canvas.
We were anchored on their finish line! I sketched the boats as they turned back for home and sailed across the Carrick Roads to Falmouth.
